HOUSTON, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- U.S. New Mexico State Police (NMSP) said Thursday that there are no other credible threats to students so far in other areas following a school shooting in the city of Aztec earlier in the day.
The police said they have received reports that schools in other areas are concerned about threats. "There is no evidence to support these rumors," NMSP said.
NMSP confirmed earlier on Thursday that two students and one suspect were dead in the shooting incident, but no other injuries reported.
NMSP also said that it is investigating the incident and officers are currently conducting security checks at the Aztec High School, about 290 km northwest of Albuquerque, capital city of New Mexico.
The city of Aztec is the county seat of San Juan County in northwest New Mexico. San Juan County Sheriff's Office (SJCSO) posted earlier on Facebook that the school has been evacuated.
According to NMSP, there will be a press conference scheduled with details of the shooting incident.，
